This mod is not a taxi theme for WordPress or a taxi plugin but it is a handy little modification if you operate a taxi or courier company. This modificaton puts a page template into your folder that allows you to give online quotes for taxi fares and take payments through Paypal.

WordPress taxi theme not needed.
This WordPress taxi option allows you to set 5 bands of mileages each with their own price per mile (or price per kilometer) the WordPress page template will work in any country that has Google driving directions and Paypal operates in.
Once you’ve customised the files you just upload them to your twenty-ten folder or child theme folder and when you add a new page you get the option to choose the Taxi Quote page template – this will then add the quote from and booking facility below content that you add in the normal WordPress editor.

It’s a useful mod that can be used by any type of business that operates on a mileage basis, so it can be used by private hire taxi companies, minibus and coach companies or couriers.
This is not a theme but a page template. This means when you upload the taxi page template to your theme folder it should look the same as the rest of the pages in your web site. You just open up a new page and select the template from the menu. The template just adds on the coding required for the distance, map and quote to be generated. You can still add your own content to the page in the normal way or leave the editor box blank to just have the quote and booking engine show.
The mod is based on my previously released taxi script but this time I’ve done all the integration into wordpress for you. You just need to add your maps api key and set a few variable such as currency, mileage bands, prices etc.
There is a line by line description of what you need to change in order to customise it with your own details.
Add different page templates for different vehicle classes.
The taxi or courier page template is pretty flexible. If you have different classes of vehicles then you can just use the same file only rename it so it’s like quote-taxi, quote-limo or quote-minibus. Then you change the template name and you can set all the prices and distance bands differently. When you come to produce your quote pages in the page template drop dwon menu you will see all the different templates to choose from.
WordPress taxi ‘plugin’ for most countries.
If all you want is a simple mileage cost calculation script for WordPress then this is a quick and easy solution. Remember it operrates in any country that offers Google driving directions so it should work fine in most countries.

Tested and works on WordPress 3.3.1. – tested on child themes of 2010 but should work on most themes.

Having just moved the taxi web site over to vpn servers and changing the domain from monthmouthtaxis.com to flightcabs.com I’ve discovered that google no longer provide api keys for Google Maps API V1.
Don’t worry though just follow the directions for getting a key for Google Maps V2. It’s a little long winded to get a key but it will work on this wordpress taxi page template.
Obviously this script is based on a basic javascript using the V1 API which is why it’s so cheap. I will be releasing another version shortly wich operates on the latest Google Maps V3 api but the cost will be higher as it’s much more complex script to develop.
