When you go to many shopping carts on the web the store often shows a list of previously viewed products. It’s a good way to help your shoppers to browse and compare different products quickly and easily.
You can also offer a previously viewed option for wp ecommerce stores as well by using this little mod that is based on the last viewed Wordpress plugin. This plugin will display a basic list of pages or posts that your web visitors have been to.

The modification here adds a thumbnail and filters the display to show only your store products – you want to take every opportunity to sell right? I’ve also done a bit of adjustments to the css coding to allow you to style it up much easier, for example I use a three column grid in my stores.
You can see an example of this mod in operation at phonelingo.co.uk. Just click through to a product or two and you will see that just above the related products you will see a row of your last visited product pages with a small thumbnail.
The last viewed plugin uses cookies as a way of keeping track of where you’ve been so don’t click through pages at high speed and expect the plugin to keep up – it needs time to set, read and process your cookies.

I have installed the last viewed code only on my single product pages at the moment – I may also install the code on by blog post pages and others at some time in the future but at the moment when you visit my wp ecommerce 3.8 store you will only see the latest viewed products on the single product pages.
I have not adapted the widget part of the plugin so this will only work when you use the template tag code to display the results.
As well as the modified latest view file I have also included a sample css code to add to your theme style.css file to let you display the products in the 3 column row – obviously you will need to tweak it to your own page set up.
